Phuket is Thailand’s largest island, and massage is part of the holiday routine here, from a quick beachside session after a swim to a long treatment at a resort spa. The island is spread out, so where you stay shapes which massage options are closest: Patong is lively and has the greatest choice, Kata and Karon are calmer beach resorts, and Old Phuket Town has a more local feel. Prices run a little higher than on the mainland, especially at beach resorts, so it helps to know what is typical before you book. This guide covers the main areas, a sensible price range, the best season, and how to get from the airport to your beach.

Beach massage is a Phuket tradition: therapists set up mats or loungers in the shade so you can have a massage within sight of the sea, usually at lower prices than in a spa and with less privacy. Inside spas you will find the usual Thai massage, oil and aromatherapy treatments, foot reflexology and facials, plus coconut, lemongrass and other tropical scrubs and wraps. Many resorts sell spa packages that combine a scrub, a massage and a facial. If you plan to spend the day in the sun, a cooling aloe treatment and plenty of water afterwards are a good idea.
The busiest beach town on the island, with the greatest number of spas and shops and a lively street scene in the evening.
Calmer beaches on the south-west coast, with relaxed resort spas and family-friendly surroundings.
A historic centre with colourful Sino-Portuguese buildings, cafes and quieter local massage shops.

Phuket International Airport (HKT) is on the north-west of the island. A taxi or private transfer to Patong usually takes roughly 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic, and a little longer to the south of the island. Because the island is large and public transport is limited, most visitors use taxis, ride-hailing apps or rent a scooter or car. Agree a price or insist on the meter before getting into a taxi, and allow extra time during peak travel periods.
Airport transfers: HKT → PATONG
The dry, sunny season runs from about November to April and is the most popular time on the Andaman coast. From roughly May to October the island is greener and quieter, with more rain and rougher seas that can limit boat trips and some beach swimming. Spas operate all year, and a rainy afternoon is a natural time for a treatment.

Typical ranges are about 300-700 baht for a one-hour foot massage and 400-800 baht for a one-hour traditional Thai massage in shops. Oil massages cost more, and resort spa treatments often start at around 2,000 baht. Always check the menu before you begin.
Patong has the most options and the liveliest atmosphere. Kata and Karon are calmer and suit families and couples, while Old Phuket Town is a good choice for quieter local shops.
Many visitors enjoy one for the setting and the lower price, but it is less private and less quiet than a spa. Agree the price and duration before you start.
The dry season from roughly November to April is the most popular. The rainy season runs from about May to October and brings rougher seas, which can limit boat trips.
Walk-ins are common, but resort spas and sunset time slots fill up in the high season, so booking ahead is sensible for a specific time.
